Happy Spring! There’s so much to love about this season – flowers, fresh, crisp air, a little more sunlight hours… What’s your favorite part about spring? If you said SPRING CLEANING – boy do I have a promotion for you! Any donation of 5+ used books/comics, or a bag of clothing (5+ garments) will get you 10% off any non-consignment items in the store (that is: graphic novels, comics, books, toys and clothes) – so if you have a big bag of stuff you don’t know what to do with and you’re confident Buffalo Exchange or Crossroads won’t give you anything for it, why not donate to our thrifted/pre-loved section? Save yourself some sales tax!

Saturday, April 2 @ 10:00 AM-11:30 AM: Kids’ Collage with Ella – designed for kids all ages (3+) to learn the very basics of collage. $20 admission per child

Thursday, April 7 @ 6:00 PM: Sewing Party! (Some needles and thread provided – bring your sewing projects! Anything that can be sewn by hand. Patches, small mends, etc.) $5 suggested donation for supplies
Saturday, April 9 ALL DAY: Black & Pink Letter-writing party – April birthdays! Write a nice birthday note to some of our queer/trans incarcerated community members. If you have a penpal with Black&Pink, bring their address and introduce us to them! (if you’re comfortable doing so) Envelopes, paper, writing utensils and stamps provided while supplies last. $5 suggested donation for supplies
Tuesday, April 12 @ 6:00 PM: Creative Non-fiction Group – work on your memoir! It’s like journaling, but if your life was a movie. Cut, scene, action baby! Start time flexible – 5:00 pm – close.
Friday, April 15 @ 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM: Coloring time (all ages) – do you like to color? Coloring books or sketchbooks – this is a fun, relaxing time in the back to spend the afternoon working on a coloring project with Leah. Coloring books available for purchase at the store. $10 suggested donation or purchase of coloring book
Friday, April 15 @ 7:00 PM: YA LGBT + Book club! We’re reading The Magic Fish by Trung Le Nguyen
Saturday, April 16 ALL DAY: Queer Kitsch Vintage Pop-up with Mordecai’s Attic! Did you miss Luke’s vintage pop-up last month? Never fear, he’ll be joining the shop in the back with new vintage finds every third Saturday of the month moving forward. Swing by to see what sorts of interesting things he has found since you last saw him.
Sunday, April 17 @ 5:00 PM: TAROT & MOVIE NIGHT! The last two Sundays of every month will feature a movie projected in the back. What will we play? A small hint will be provided on the instagram and if you can guess correctly, you win 20% off any non-consignment items in-store! (Must be redeemed by the Sunday Movie Night) Jesse Jae will be in the store with her witchy wares and tarot readings all day.

Saturday, April 23 @ 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM: Ambidextrous Drawing! Ana Bedolla will lead a coloring/drawing session for kids of all ages to practice drawing/coloring with both hands. Coloring books available for purchase at the store. $20 admission fee per child

Wednesday, April 27 @ 6:00 PM: Handlettering 101/Practice – if you’re new to handlettering or would like some practice, join us from 6-close in the back to learn the basics or hone your skills. Some markers and paper provided. $5 suggested donation for supplies.
Thursday, April 28 @ 6:00 PM: Bullet Journal with me! “Bullet Journal 101” – have you ever been curious about the intricate and wide world of bullet journaling? Come to the shop and find out what it’s all about! Bullet journals available for purchase. Some writing utensils, washi tape and other supplies provided. $5 suggested donation for use of provided supplies.
And that’s it for April! May’s schedule is slowly being ironed out… Couple of fun things coming up in May: Procreate workshop (!!), Sour Cherry Comics-Con (!!! Grand opening party, babey!), and Leah’s birthday which will be celebrated in a grand fashion including a raffle with fun prizes! And so, so much more.
