Hey everyone! For Pride this year, we have put together a fun schedule of events all month-long, for queer community to gather and enjoy shared activities and interests.
Thursday, June 1st @ 6:00 pm – Sewing Party! Bring your own sewing projects or use any of the materials and extra fabrics we have at the store. We also have patches available for sale if you want to buy a patch to sew onto something!
Wednesday, June 7th, 5-7 pm – Poison Ivy #13 signing with cover artist Jessica Fong!
Saturday, June 10, 1-4 pm – Black & Pink Letter Writing with Flying Over Walls, Bay Area. They will be joining us from 1-4pm so come on down and write a birthday card to one of our queer/trans incarcerated comrades! (supplies provided) – be sure to also check out the graphic novels, zines, and books from A.B.O Comix! ABO Comix is a publisher that works with incarcerated queer/trans comrades and produces their art, writings, etc – all profits go to supporting the prisoners. Read more here.
Sunday, June 11th, 7:00 pm – All-genre writing group at Silver Sprocket, 1018 Valencia st. Timed writing sessions + optional exercises for short fiction plus options to share if desired.
Tuesday, June 13, 5-7pm – Creative Non-fiction workshop. Timed writing and exercises with options to share if desired. (Please note: this is a little earlier than we usually run it!)
Saturday, June 17, 2-4 pm – FULL QUEER RIGHT TO BARE ARMS! Arm Wrestling Tournament in the store, come watch some epic arm wrestling from your favorite all queer wrestling group: FULL QUEER!
Thursday, June 22, 5-8 pm – GAY GUNDAM NIGHT! Hobby kits, gunpla, diorama building, and general crafting in and amongst queer community. Some diorama kits available at the store.
Saturday, June 24, 2-6 pm: 🌷 Sapphic Tea Party 🌷 🍵 Gather and join other sapphics for tea and light refreshments! This is a little non-alcoholic mixer for gay girls to meet and chat about shared interests, hobbies, etc. RSVP on Eventbrite if you’d like.
Sunday, June 25, 2-6 pm: Pride Artist Pop-up! We will feature queer artists and zine makers from 2-6pm on Pride Sunday so please come join us in the shop and check out their wares. Artist applications are open until June 1st.
Wednesday, June 28, 5-8 pm: Mission Mini Comix! Part draw jam, part collaborative zine making. Join us in the shop to hang out and make some zines!
